GTA 6 Hacker Imprisoned!

The individual responsible for leaking clips of an in-development Grand Theft Auto 6, hacker Arion Kurtaj, has been sentenced to indefinite imprisonment in a secure hospital. A member of the hacking group Lapsus$, which targeted major companies like Nvidia, Microsoft, Samsung, and Uber, Kurtaj hacked into Rockstar's internal systems from a Travelodge where he was under police protection. Despite a medical diagnosis of acute autism rendering him unfit for trial, the jury determined his responsibility for the attack. Kurtaj was reported to be violent in police custody and expressed an intent to return to cybercrime. The trial revealed a dispute over the impact on Rockstar, with the defense citing the success of the GTA 6 trailer, while Rockstar claimed $5 million in costs and thousands of staff hours. The sentence allows for potential release if doctors deem Kurtaj is no longer a threat.

Activision Blizzard CEO Is Leaving Soon?!

Activision Blizzard CEO and founder Bobby Kotick is officially leaving the company following Microsoft's acquisition. Despite Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer initially asking Kotick to stay on, he is stepping down on December 29, reportedly with a massive pay package of around $400 million. There may not be a direct replacement, but Blizzard president Mike Ybaara, Activision Publishing president Rob Kostich, and Activision Blizzard vice chair Thomas Tippl will form a new organizational structure reporting to Xbox executive Matt Booty. Kotick's departure comes amid controversies, including a $54 million settlement with the state of California over sexual harassment allegations, leading to Microsoft's $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Various executives, including communications boss Lulu Meservey and vice chairman Humam Sakhnini, are also leaving. Activision Blizzard has settled multiple lawsuits in recent years, including a sexual harassment case with the Federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for $18 million in March 2022 and a $35 million settlement with the SEC in February 2023 over inadequate disclosure.
